(Note: Please read Synopsis for 'Ed Gibbons Uncut' project first)
Synopsis:
Hailed as TV’s ‘man of the decade’ in the 1990s, Ed eventually experienced a ‘career suicide’ moment whilst anchoring the Millennium Eve celebrations – which instantly re-defined as him the most hated man in the country. Suitably chastened, he attempted to re-build his career by fronting a host of half-baked “reality” format shows in the ‘00s. Fortunately half-baked “reality” format shows were all the rage in ‘00s, and Ed’s career and public image were resurrected…for a while.
As in the earlier Ed Gibbons Uncut series, each episode will feature a mix of a show that Ed fronted (in this case in the '00s decade) intercut with footage of his... ahem, colourful life off-camera. Shows that he fronted in this phase of his career include "Granny Swap" (parodying Wife Swap), "Relationship Re:boot" (A Place In The Sun) and "On Hols With The Proles" (Holiday Showdown)
Having reinvented himself and rehabilitated his career, Ed is once again riding high... and for an almighty fall, as the decade draws to a close and a very public mid-life crisis beckons.
